Orthodontics practice

A great smile starts with a great dentist

The benefits of orthodontic treatment

In addition, an improved facial appearance helps to boost self-confidence, and therefore quality of life in general, particularly during childhood and adolescence, but also later in life. Furthermore, thanks to our dental retention techniques, the care we provide will be long-lasting. To ensure you receive the best possible service, our orthodontists in Luxembourg are qualified to offer you the highest-quality services, including the best care for emergency orthodontic care.

Causes of orthodontic problems

We distinguish two main groups of determining factors: hereditary and acquired. But a hereditary cause can be “aggravated” by acquired conditions, so that the exact origins of the problem can be multiple and sometimes difficult to pin down.
Thus, the causes are generally due to a disturbance in the evolution of facial growth between birth and adulthood, or to a disturbance in dental evolution. These disturbances stem fromvariations in the functions of chewing, swallowing, breathing, etc. Habits such as thumb-sucking also disrupt dentofacial development.

Why turn to a specialist?

Orthodontics can permanently change the position of a person’s teeth and their facial structure. It is therefore essential that orthodontic treatment be undertaken and monitored by a professional. Thanks to specialized postgraduate training following the completion of a dental degree, a qualified orthodontist possesses the necessary skills to successfully carry out treatment that can correct each patient’s orthodontic problem. Furthermore, by practicing exclusively in orthodontics, the specialist has acquired complete mastery of their field, which includes services such as the custom design of an anti-snoring device that improves sleep quality by reducing snoring and sleep apnea. We also offer an emergency service for toothaches as well as immediate care for dental appliances.

Orthodontic treatment... for whom?

Who needs orthodontic treatment?

Here are a few “signs” that can help you detect the existence or probable appearance of an orthodontic problem (malocclusion):

When should you start aligning your teeth?

Because each patient’s case must be considered individually, it’s difficult to determine absolutely when to start orthodontic treatment to align your teeth. Our orthodontists will recommend the right lingual appliance for you.

When clinical signs are observed, it is sometimes still too early to begin treatment. However, it is never too early to seek a pediatric orthodontic evaluation to determine the cause of the problem. We therefore recommend scheduling an initial evaluation visit at our dental clinic in Luxembourg around the age of seven or eight to determine whether braces are necessary.

Conversely, there is no age limit for orthodontic treatment. In recent years, orthodontic treatment of adults has taken off in leaps and bounds. As a result, adults who were not fortunate enough to be treated as children can benefit from modern (ceramic) aesthetic appliances. For adult patients, our dentists use Invisalign clear braces, which are virtually invisible. Don’t hesitate to inquire about our affordable dental center prices, our dental offices located in Mamer and in Strassen will be able to offer you the right treatment.

Beyond Aesthetics: The Functional Impacts of Dental Alignment

Orthodontics is not limited to achieving a harmonious smile; it plays a fundamental role in restoring balanced chewing function.

When the upper and lower teeth do not align properly, pressure is distributed asymmetrically throughout the entire oral cavity. Over time, this biomechanical imbalance overloads the temporomandibular joints and triggers painful effects throughout the upper body. This is precisely why it is important to understand why a poor bite can cause much more than just misaligned teeth—particularly by focusing on the resulting muscle tension and joint clicking experienced on a daily basis.

By correcting these contact irregularities, orthodontic treatment provides lasting relief for the entire neuromuscular system of the face.

We have the answer

The cost of treatment (ceramic or metal braces, or clear aligners) depends on the complexity of the alignment and the duration of treatment. You will always receive a personalized estimate after your initial consultation. Regarding coverage, the CNS reimburses 100% (based on official rates) for orthodontic treatments for children, provided that treatment begins before the child’s 17th birthday and that a request for prior authorization has been approved by the Social Security Medical Review Board (CMSS). At Ares Dental, we offer direct billing (PID) to save you from having to pay the full amount of covered costs upfront.

Although most treatments begin during adolescence (between the ages of 11 and 14), the American Association of Orthodontists recommends an initial screening visit as early as age 7. Early intervention (interceptive orthodontics) helps guide the growth of the still-developing jaws and correct functional abnormalities (such as swallowing or breathing) before the permanent teeth have fully erupted.

Absolutely. Today, nearly one in three orthodontic patients is an adult. Thanks to modern technologies such as clear, invisible aligners (Invisalign), it’s possible to correct crooked or spaced-out teeth in a completely discreet and comfortable way, without disrupting your professional life. The results are just as long-lasting as they are for teenagers.

Yes, there is a direct link. Misaligned teeth prevent the mouth from closing properly and evenly (malocclusion). To compensate, the chewing muscles work abnormally, which creates muscle tension and overloads the temporomandibular joints (TMJ). Over time, this can lead to jaw clicking, migraines, neck pain, or bruxism (teeth grinding at night). Correcting the alignment through orthodontic treatment often helps relieve these joint-related conditions.

Exactly. Our centers in Mamer and Strassen see cross-border patients every day. If you are enrolled in the CNS through your employment in Luxembourg, your children are entitled to the same reimbursement benefits as a Luxembourg resident (subject to prior approval from the CMSS for children under 17). For adults, coverage depends on the terms of your supplemental health insurance plan.

On average, a full course of treatment lasts between 12 and 24 months, depending on the technique chosen and the corrections needed. Follow-up visits are generally scheduled every 4 to 8 weeks to adjust the appliance or monitor the progress of the clear aligners. Our offices in Mamer and Strassen offer extended hours and Saturday appointments to accommodate your school and work schedules.
